Tovey Gay McRill, 63 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her home in Platte City, Missouri.

Tovey was born on September 22, 1955 in Kansas City to William E. Sr. and Jean Wood.

Tovey’s first love was her children, grandchildren, and family. She was a dedicated and hard worker in everything she did. From an executive secretary, hotel management, Sunday school teacher, and stay at home mom, she could do it all. She was also apart of the respite foster care program. She was always there to help whenever she was needed. She was truly a beacon of light. She had a kind heart, warm smile, listening ear,  and loving arms to hug you when needed. She would do anything for anyone. She was truly loved, and will be greatly missed. 

Tovey is survived by her 6 children, Amy Lynn Beery, of Platte City, Missouri, Andrew John McRill and wife Jill of Kansas City, Missouri, Adam Franklin McRill of Raymore, Missouri, Austin Scott Wood and husband Mark of Kansas City, Missouri, Dalton Patrick McDowell and fiancé Ashlie of Maysville, Missouri, and Derrick Lee McDowell of Platte City, Missouri. 4 brothers and sisters: Fred Wood of Weston, Missouri, William Wood Jr. of Cameron, Missouri, Todd Wood of Wheatland, Missouri, and Tina Rainey of Lakeland, Florida. 

11 grandchildren: Brooke, Jenna, Bo, Aedan, Madison, Ellie, Rory, Marlie, Nakai, Colton, and Scout. 2 great grandchildren Gavin and Lane, and many nieces, nephews, loving family & friends.

She is preceded in death by her father William E. Wood Sr., mother Jean Wood, sister Tammy Wood, and niece Malinda Ballew.

Celebration of life will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Turner Family Funeral Home. 603 S. Sloan St., Maysville, Missouri. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m at the funeral home.
