1930-2021

Cameron, Missouri…. Sergeant Major James J. Dalby, age 91, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Cameron Veterans Home where he had resided a lengthy time after breaking both hips.

James “Nick” Dalby was born April 20, 1930, the son of Henry Clay and Louise Elsie Dalby in rural Clarksdale, Missouri. He attended the White Dove School and later graduated from the Amity, Missouri High School. He was baptized into the Methodist church at an early age.

He went into the U.S. Army in 1952 and went straight to Germany from basic training.  He continued serving in the military for 23 years.

He was one of a family of six children: JoAnn, Ruth, James, Norma Jean, Ron and Glenn.

Survivors include his wife Mary Alice of the home; brother Ron of Texas; niece Cinda McNutt of St. Joseph, MO; and many other loved ones and friends.

James had a military salute on the departure from the Veterans Home. There will not be a formal public service due to the Covid pandemic.

    Hazel Russell Files and Family would like to send their deepest condolences to His wife and family. Nick was in the same Amity “Blue Jays” Class as Hazel and Charlie. Many fond memories of the Dalby clan. Thank you Nick for your service and may you RIP
