1933-2017Maysville, MO….James Byron Harwood, age 83, was born April 13, 1933 in Amity, Missouri, the son of Byron Francis and Roberta Frances (Allen) Harwood and passed away Sunday April 9, 2017.On December 27, 1952, JB and Katherine Hawman were united in marriage. To this union four children were born. After High School JB entered into the United States Army and served during Korea 1951-1954. He then returned to Maysville where he owned and operated Harwood’s Garage and Auto Parts and Fertilizer Plant until 1980. Later in life he owned a resort/campground at Lake of the Ozarks and resided there for many years. In 2011, Maysville became home again.
JB loved to fish, garden, do woodwork, and tour the country in his motorhome with friends and relatives. JB always had a joke or stories from his past to share. His greatest joy in life was sharing family dinners and time with his wife, kids, and family members. He will be deeply missed by all.
JB is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Sue Harwood; and sister, Delores Jean Pritchard.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of the home; children, James Lee Harwood (Connie), Maysville, Janet Kay Christenson (Jeff), Lake Ozark, Carol Jean McCrea (Doug), Maysville; Sister, Idella Barton; grandchildren, Teresa Clark (Scott), Terri Woodlurn (Brent), Clint McCrea ( Amber), Amy Myers (Brian), Kyle Christenson, Cory Christenson, and seven great grandchildren.
Cremation under the direction of Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville. Celebration of Life Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Maysville Senior Center.
