1929-2018

Cameron, MO……Norma “Jean” Meek, age 88 , was born May 11, 1929 in Maysville, Missouri, the daughter of Harold B. and Vada (Stockton) Owen and passed away with her family at her side February 7, 2018 in Cameron, Missouri.

Jean graduated from Maysville High School Class of 1947 and Kansas City Business College in 1948. On February 24, 1949, Jean and Keith Eugene Meek were united in marriage in Bentonville, Arkansas and to this union four daughters were born.

Jean worked at Niles and Moser and H.D. Lee in Kansas City, ASCS Office and Farmers Mutual Insurance in Maysville, Home Interiors Inc., and owner of Country Flower and Gifts Maysville. She was a member of First Christian Church of Cameron, Cameron ABWA, Ladies Aid Quilt Guild, Garden Prairie Extension Club, and she was a 4-H Leader. Jean enjoyed scrapbooking, golfing, traveling, quilting, needlework, attracting hummingbirds, and bird watching.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diane Decker; three brothers Kenneth Owen, Merlin Owen and Harlan Owen; and two granddaughters, Christin Palmer and Carrie Steele.

Survivors include husband, Keith of the home; three daughters, Joan (Ronnie) Pearl, Verna Meek, Janet Meek (Patti Church) all of Cameron; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Drury, Fayetteville, N.C., Beulah Mills, Rohnert Park, CA; brothers, Jim (Shirley) Owen, Smithville, MO, Carl (June) Owen, Ash Grove, MO; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville with burial following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation: one hour prior to funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions: Alzheimers Foundation of America, Three Rivers Hospice, and Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
