Noland Dale Pulley
1932-2019
Oak, Missouri…..Noland Dale “Doggie” Pulley, 87, passed away September 4, 2019 at Sunset Home in Maysville, Missouri. Noland is the widow of Illah Marie (Rice) Pulley. Together they shared 61 years of marriage.
In January 1932, Noland and his twin sister Nora Bell were born to Ora Opal Anderson and George Otis Pulley. Noland’s father passed away when he was young, leaving his mother to raise 5 children and run the family farm. Noland was a graduate of Maysville High School. The summer after Noland graduated his older brother Leroy passed away so Noland took over the family farming Noland served in the US Army from 1952-1954, during the Korean War and saw duty on the 38th parallel. During his service to our country he earned a Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon completion of duty he transferred from active duty to Army Reserve to complete 8 years service under Universal Military Training and Service Act. After returning home from Korea he dedicated his self to a lifetime career of farming.
In April 1956 Noland and Illah Marie were united in marriage. Together they made their home on a farm across from where he was raised. They lived there together in the home they built until her passing in 2017 and he stayed there for another year until going to the nursing home.
Noland was a member of the Clarksdale Christian Church, Oak Christian Church, Oak Cemetery Board, Clarksdale Lions Club (51 years), Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Clarksdale and Stewartsville, VFW, Eastern Star, Lamplighters Club, was appointed by Harry S. Truman as a US Marshall, director of Public Water Supply District #1 of Dekalb County for 40 years, and former member of the Pork Producers & Cattleman’s Association.
Noland is survived by his brother George Pulley of Amity, Mo. Sister Wanda Jo (Pat) Crawford of Liberty, Mo. Five nieces Audrey (George) Pulley-Stewart of Kearney, Mo. Karen (Burle) Stafford-Bizet of Grovis Mills, Mo. Christy Crawford-Wilkinson of Kansas City, Mo. Angela (Robert Smith) Rice-Jones of Pattonsburg, Mo. Cheri Rice of Hamilton, Mo. Three nephews Gary (Nancy) Pulley Guilford, Mo. Paul Pulley Cowgill, Mo. Brian (Kelly) Pulley Montrose, Mn. Several great & great-great nieces/nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother Leroy Pulley, his twin sister Nora Bell Pulley-Stafford, sister-in-law Betty Weidmaier-Pulley, brother-in-law G. Stanley Rice and nephew Kevin Stafford.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Satruday, September 7, 2019 at Clarksdale Christian Church in Clarksdale, Mo with burial in Oak Cemetery Oak, Mo. So sorry to about Noland I have very fond memories of him from my youth at oak.
