1918-2019
Maysville, MO……Mildred Irene Utz-Cole, age 101, was born July 21, 1918 at her parents home northwest of Maysville, Missouri in DeKalb County, the daughter of Harry and Mattie Gitthens Stokes, formerly of Maysville. They moved to California in the fall of 1936 to make it their home.
Mildred attended rural school at Hessel and Dallas Center. After graduation she worked at a hotel in Maysville. On August 5, 1936 Mildred and Junior Utz were united in marriage.
They lived on a farm west of Maysville. Later in 1947 they moved to Winchester, Kansas to manage a Cattle Ranch and after seven years they bought a farm. On New Years day their home was destroyed by fire. Building a new home in 1961 they built a new home at 409 West Main Street in Maysville.
Junior passed away January 9, 1985 after a three year illness, they were married 48 1/2 years.
On September 20, 1987, Mildred married Burnam Harris and he passed away April of 1990 after a short illness.
Later Mildred married Marshall Cole until his passing.
She is survived by Art Pullen who was raised in Mildred’s home, and was like a son to her.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville with burial following at Oak Lawn Cemetery. My first job out of high school was working for Junior and Mildred Utz on the cattle ranch at Winchester,Ks. 75 dollars a month and room and board.I worked for them three or more times during their stay at Winchester.Were really fine people.
Mildred worked for my Dad at Sunset Home! We had so many memories and fun times with Mildred! May she Rest In Peace! God Bless!
