Stewartsville, Missouri……Helen Maxine Francis, age 88, was born December 14, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ethel (Hopkins) Lewis on a farm north of Stanberry, Missouri and passed away October 8, 2021.

On August 16, 1954, Maxine and Tuffy Francis were united in marriage.  To this union three sons were born.  Maxine cleaned houses in the Stewartsville area and assisted her friend with decorating cakes for many years.  She also assisted her husband Tuffy, in running Francis Auto Supply for 40 plus years. 

Maxine loved watching the Kansas City Royals, camping, gardening, and planting flowers.  She was a 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School teacher for several years and made sure her boys were in church every Sunday, even when they were on vacation.  Maxine was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for over 50 years. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tuffy Francis; Stepson, Steve Francis; grandson, Aaron Kyle Francis; and eight brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Lewis (Linda) of Stewartsville, David (Ruth Ann) of Lee’s Summit, and Larry (Melissa) of Stewartsville; daughter-in-law, Hazel; brother, Marion Levain Lewis of Cosby; six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Stewartsville Cemetery.  Visitation:  9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Turner Family Funeral Home of Stewartsville.  Memorial Contributions:  Stewartsville Cemetery or Old School Presbyterian Cemetery.
