Doris Jean Campbell
1932 ~ 2023

Stewartsville, Missouri…….Doris Jean (Hickman) Campbell, age 91, passed away September 20, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri, with her family by her side. 

Doris was born in Colorado, the daughter of Ralph Hickman and Clara (Reep) Hickman, and moved with her family to the Amity area her junior year of school. She graduated from the Amity School class of 1950. While attending school, she met the love of her life, Cleo Campbell and they were wed on November 16, 1950, and to this union three children were born. They shared the next 70 years together in the Amity area.

Doris earned her masters degree and taught 4th grade for the Maysville School District from 1984-1997. After retiring from teaching, she was a substitute for Maysville and St. Joseph Christian Schools.

She was the matriarch of her family. She loved having them all get together frequently ensuring they all stay very close throughout the years.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo; infant daughter, Alice Diane; and two (twin) great-grandsons, Matthew and Michael Buhman.

She is survived by two children, Marcia (Larry) Buhman of Stewartsville, MO.; and Karen Campbell of Bowdon, GA.; four grandchildren, Lynn (Christina) Buhman; Christina (Branson) Cole; Lori (Seth) Boyer; David (Taylor) Buhman; and nine great-grandchildren, Abby Buhman; Eva Cole; Rena Cole; Ian Cole; Gabriel Boyer; Nathaniel Boyer; Alexa Buhman; Emma Buhman, Liam Buhman; and numerous cousins and friends. 

Graveside Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Amity Cemetery in Amity, Missouri, with visitation thirty minutes before funeral time at the Cemetery.
