Barbara Kay Halter, age 83, passed away Saturday, March 2nd in Mission, Texas.
Barbara (Barb) was born the daughter of Gilbert and Evelyn Jestes, and with her younger brother Keith, were raised on a farm in Fairport, Missouri.
She attended Fairport School and was a graduate of Maysville High School 1958.

August 24, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harold Halter and had four children: Steve, Mike, Doug and Julie.
Barbara worked 27 years for the State of Missouri and retired in 1995 as a Supervisor for the Department of Family Services.

A few of her greatest memories were spending time with family and friends at Lake of the Ozarks, cruises to Alaska and Mexican Riviera with her husband and two of her sons, traveling to Guatemala for the adoption of a granddaughter, a trip to Hawaii, the many hours she spent sewing for her kids growing up, as well as baking and making memories with her grandchildren. She spent the last years of her life in Texas where she enjoyed the company of friends and beautiful sunshine. She never knew a stranger and would always greet you with a smile.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Evelyn Jestes; parents-in-law, Lawrence Halter and Viola Halter (Jolley); stepfather-in-law, Richard Jolley; brother-in-law, John Halter; her beloved son, Doug; infant granddaughters, Madeline and Rosie; and her little dog, “Missy.”

She is survived by her husband Harold of 65 years, Mission, Texas; sons, Steve (Andrea) Halter, Leawood, Ks.; Mike Halter, Mission, TX.; Julie Raczkowski, Lebanon, MO.; brother, Keith (Sharon) Jestes, Maysville, MO.; sister-in-law, Twila Halter, Maysville, MO.; grandchildren, Emily, Molly, Andrew (Megan), Jacob and Anna; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the Turner Family Funeral Home Maysville, MO. Friday, March, 8th from 6-8 pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 am with burial immediately following at Fairport Cemetery.
